I Took a Trip to a BYD Dealership to See the Chinese Automaker Tesla Fears Most
- anakaine 2y agoI'm from a place where Tesla had an early foothold and good following. There are many, many BYD vehicles on the road here now, and quite a few people I know are strongly considering them as their next vehicle. Some I know have made the move from consideration to purchase, and they all appear to be very happy with the decision. Tesla should be worried. And quite frankly, BYD has listened to the wants of the market. Practicality, functionality, price point. You can't software your way out of customers wanting physical controls, for wanting a more compelling price point for seemingly quite good quality, or for other functions the market has been producing but Tesla has been cagy adopting.

I’d never own one due to privacy concerns but I was seriously imagining myself in one while reading the article. If they can make a reliable car at those prices they sure have a thing going. US just implemented 100% fees on all Chinese car imports. Won’t save the us car makers in the global market though.
