Once my employer asked us to look over an updated employee handbook. There’s was a bunch of nonsense like “no taking pictures in the office” and “no drinking alcohol in the office”. (The office has kegs in it!) We called this out and HR was like “it was some template, let me see if I can get it changed” and we went from there. I dunno if nonsense like that happens at a bigger company like OpenAI but I wouldn’t rule it out, nor would I rule out a CEO not knowing about every detail that HR comes up with.
