Whatever the outcome of the inquiry, and whatever compensation is
dispensed, the same problem will occur again and again so long as
British law remains fundamentally broken.
The root cause of this - a quite insane presumption of the
"correctness of computing" - has been mocked by all respectable
computer scientists and software engineers. As reported in Nature, the
likelihood of this leading to further injustice and similar scandals
is certain, and with "AI" they will get more frequent and damaging.

The true root cause is surely whatever led the judges to permit concealment of evidence for the counter-argument.
