I have a BlackBerry KeyOne (and Key2, and Key2LE). That will be my last Android, as far as I'm concerned. Due to background services getting killed, I'd miss messages through every Matrix client I tried. If I tell my OS to run a program, I expect it to run until I say otherwise or it runs out of resources.
If I'm going to deal with much worse battery life anyways (compared to 2-3 days on my BB), I'm at least going to have a cheap device that's easy to repair, a 3.5mm jack, swappable battery, uSD card, and an OS that will do as I say. So I've moved on to a Pinephone Pro.
It's less stable, but I am indescribably fed up with Android (or iOS) killing background tasks that I expect to run
