- hn_throwaway_99 2y agoThere are bugs in how it handles duplicate letters. See this example, https://stevekrouse-staticwordle.web.val.run/eyJhbnN3ZXIiOiJsb2dpYyIsImd1ZXNzZXMiOlsiaXJhdGUiLCJiaXNvbiIsImNvbGljIiwibG9jaWMiLCJsb2dpYyJdLCJjdXJyZW50R3Vlc3MiOiIifQ== https://stevekrouse-staticwordle.web.val.run/eyJhbnN3ZXIiOiJ...
- porphyra 2y agoYeah the duplicate letters is bugged and also it lets you enter invalid words.
- mamurphy 2y agoYes; another example: https://stevekrouse-staticwordle.web.val.run/eyJhbnN3ZXIiOiJjYWNoZSIsImd1ZXNzZXMiOlsic2xlZXAiLCJ2ZXJ2ZSIsImViYXRlIiwibWFuZ2UiLCJjYWRpZSIsImNhY2hlIl0sImN1cnJlbnRHdWVzcyI6IiJ9 https://stevekrouse-staticwordle.web.val.run/eyJhbnN3ZXIiOiJ...
- tantalor 2y ago"Static" means no app code on server. Every website in history runs app code on client (HTML is a programming language)
- dylan604 2y agoNot once has the been my definition of a static site. Static to me has always been flat files that do not need to have a language on the server process them like PHP making calls to a MySQL database. If you download a static site and then clicked Save from the browser, you could then open the saved HTML content and it appear exactly as it did from calling the URL.
- tantalor 2y ago> do not need to have a language on the server process them like PHP making calls to a MySQL database. Yes, that's what I said. > If you download a static site and then clicked Save from the browser, you could then open the saved HTML content and it appear exactly as it did from calling the URL. I don't really follow this. You could do that for literally any website, not just static sites.
- dylan604 2y ago> You could do that for literally any website, not just static sites. Except you can't for any website that updates the page with AJAX calls to update the page in whatever manner. If it's a static site, links from one page will go to another flat file again without needing to retrieve anything rendered by a server. This isn't really a difficult concept to understand, yet it is somehow constantly being confused
