- mcphage 2y agoIsn’t that also related to surface area? Light bulb filaments are highly coiled, like DNA. That gives a lot more surface area than a plate would.
- petermcneeley 2y agoThe coil is for resistance. You want the voltage drop to be across the filament. The coil of thin wire gives it significant length.
