I’m so sad over the state of self-driving cars. Waymo appears to be the clear winner, but you’ll never own the tech for yourself. So you’ve got Tesla, which sells a stupidly priced ADAS system with or without a subscription that drives like a teenager. Comma, great price, but insists they’re solving self-driving cars and their engineering team scoffs at object detection and the unit basically can’t turn at intersections anymore. And Waymo. Great passenger experience, highly tuned longitudinal comfort, industry leading perception and sensor tech. But you can only use them as a taxi.
