And now we're back to the Blame The Russians narrative?
Disinformation is effectively because real, solid and tangible information is slim to none. Joe has done barely ok. The poles prove this. Most Dems aren't thrilled with the paat four yrs. Non Dems even less. The Russians aren't in the WH.
Gawd I miss the day when you could read the NYT and not think "Is this the Onion?"
- ggm 2y agoThe election will probably be won or lost on apathy. In any rational world, it would be a D storm because the R side in this has gone completely gaga. But, apathy, and messages to tell lefist students to stay home "as a protest against Joe's stance on Israel" are going to kill the margins. The real sold and tangible information is that the economy is not demonstrably worse under Biden and very probably better, and that doing barely OK compared to selling the house for hookers and blow is pretty damn good. 90% plus of the spend on Ukraine is spent.. inside the US weapons industry. It's been a giant pump priming for all kinds of industrial base. That alone is worth singing about because Trump wants to believe he can stop spending the aide money inside the USA and can talk a peace outcome in 24h of being sworn in...
- chiefalchemist 2y ago> The real sold and tangible information is that the economy is not demonstrably worse under Biden Disagree. Perception is reality. Full stop. Gas is up 50 cents (near me) in the last 6+ months. LinkedIn is a sea of "Open to work". Others are concerned about their future job and AI. Unemployment down? Perhaps. But what quality of jobs? I know of no one who is feeling good and confident about the economy. Sure the coastal elites and their Media partners are pushing the economy is VG+ narrative but that's not even close to perception. I've heard multiple NPR segments where the show host says to a guest, "Why are the voters not on board with the strength of the economy?" I laugh. It's as if she/he never thought about asking actual on-the-streets IRL voters. Why does the narrative have to be controlled and filter through pundits? That's a bad look.
- ggm 2y agoYour language implies some active conspiracy to misrepresent the state of the economy. And, a culture war gap between elites and "real people" Why do you assume hostile intent, and bias against the working poor when it is equally likely that macro economic signals are good, better than under Trump, but that real CPI effects and low wage growth and rent rises affect poorer people disproportionately? My point stands. Belief Trump would have been better for low income and high unemployment communities across America is a fantasy. Biden's time in office has seen more structurally beneficial work on fixing the economy and has substantively helped some people on lower incomes, such as the student debt relief. What's the republican approach to fuel prices? Where is the money coming from to reduce gas costs by 50c and cap rents.. most government initiatives which can do that are exactly opposite to what Trump wants to do. Nobody controls the narrative any more, all we've got is fundamentals like the economic stats. You don't find them comforting? OK, understood. Do you really think any element of them under government control (a key point) would be better under republican Trump led control. Really?
- chiefalchemist 2y agoI can't reply to your other comment for some reason. Conspiracy? Nah. It's not that complicated. Fact: common entities with common interests will tend to act in concert, even without coordination. As for why? Oh come on now. Let's not be naive. What the public believes is what defines The Truth. That's true for Joe. It's true for Don. Etc. That said, the further and harder the push is in disconnect from someone's truth, only increases the gap. It doesn't close it. Trying to tell someone on LinkedIn with an "open to work" badge that the economy is just fine and they have Joe to thank is foolish at best.
