As far as this book goes, when I read it a few years ago I kind of appreciated it, but found it a bit too abstract and philosophical to be useful.
- dhconnelly 2y agoInteresting. It’s definitely more abstract and philosophical than books like “Effective C++/Java/etc,” but I personally got a lot out of it and find it to be a really useful resource in code reviews. Particularly when commenting on the big picture and structural aspects, rather than just language-specific idioms or correctness.
- andyjohnson0 2y agoThe site looks like someone's blog, so I doubt the pdf is there with permission. Ousterhout's pages at Stanford [1] don't seem to link to a legitimate pdf of the book. Flagged for this reason. OP please delete this post. [1] https://web.stanford.edu/~ouster/cgi-bin/publications.php https://web.stanford.edu/~ouster/cgi-bin/publications.php
- brudgers 2y agodoes the website owner have permission from the author to post this there? Would it make more sense to contact the domain administrator and/or the rights holders?
