The predictions of that book didn't come true because the book was wrong---they didn't come true because the book was right, and the human race did things to prevent them from coming true. We owe China an enormous debt of gratitude for its 1-child policy.
Suppose I go to my doctor, he say, "You need to quit smoking, lose 100 lbs, and exercise regularly, or you will die before you retire."
So I quit smoking, lose 100 lbs, and exercise twice a week. When my retirement comes around, I find that--far from dying--I'm actually healthy enough to enjoy it.
Should I then say to myself, "Well, I don't know why I ever listened to that Dr, none of his predictions have come true...."
