That's a really big number. I'd guess it represents ~100% of customers who have given information to Dell. The hackers say they signed up as a Dell partner, instantly giving them access to a partner web portal, from which they harvested the 49 million customer records. They claim to have done it by "generating 5,000 requests per minute for three weeks, without Dell blocking the attempts." Ah, security. As always and as ever, an afterthought.
