Encrypted (without e2ee) means only you, the service provider and the recipient can read the data. e2ee means only you and the recipient can read it. Do we agree on that? If so you must agree that "any intermediary" like a ISP, network provider or similar being able to read or modify the data is strictly worse than just "you, the service provider and the recipient", right?
