Sydney's tree wars: Greed and harbour views fuel vandalism
- bamboozled 2y agoI don’t really get this attitude. Sydney harbour is beautiful because it’s green.
- emmelaich 2y agoBut people want to see the harbour and the boats and stuff too. I'm a little conflicted; the bush is important but I think it's OK to clear a little so that each house has some view. Historically Sydney has far more bush and trees now than it has ever had. You could have bought a house in the 60s or 70s with fantastic views which are now all but gone. Fun fact; the mentioned Castle Cove and some of its environs were designed by Walter Burley Griffin, the American architect that designed our national capital Canberra. https://abc17603.wordpress.com/history/suburbs/castlecove/ https://abc17603.wordpress.com/history/suburbs/castlecove/
- bamboozled 2y agoThe equivalent of 14 tennis courts was destroyed in Castle Cove Humans really can be absolutely disgusting and personally, I think the trees are more important than your view sorry. I lived in Redern for years, surrounded by plenty of nice trees, and I wanted to see the harbor, I'd go to Circular Quay for dinner. There's no need to destroy spectacular hundred year old trees so you can have "a view". I'll reiterate, I've lived in several major cities in the world and nothing compares to Sydney because of it's trees, they really are spectacular. Once they're gone, and once people are allowed to go ahead with these, it won't be the same.
- emmelaich 2y ago'14 tennis courts' is obviously too much and has little to do with my point.
