I'm looking to put a digital channel on my cable segment (Fios based) with a Blonder Tongue QAM encoder, but I haven't figured out if I'll be able to tune it with a Fios set top box. I considered maybe dropping in a notch filter so I can take over an existing channel, but nothing is set up at the moment.
One thing I did find is that the QAM encoder's RF output can have a lot of power. It would overpower my cheap standalone HDMI tuner. In lieu of an attenuator I could air gap the coax connector about 5-10mm, and get it to tune.
