I don't buy that. There's not a single major Western politician in government at the moment who's political path ahead would not be made easier by the wars currently ongoing to somehow stop and thus be able to chalk up a win for "increased global stability" and profit at the ballot box. Unfortunately it's the politicians that are not beholden to ballot boxes that have no incentive to stop blowing people up.
