Douglas Crockford: Yahoo should fork NodeJS, no faith in Joyent.
- Irishsteve 14y agoAny particular examples of joyent doing bad things? Doesn't seem to mention any. I'm curious.
- MrBlue 14y agoI am curious as well. Hopefully someone from the community will chime in here with some examples.
- lucisferre 14y agoDoes this have something to do with the current Node lead's hatred of semicolons? http://nodeguide.com/community.html#isaac-schlueter http://nodeguide.com/community.html#isaac-schlueter
- junto 14y agoI think that the semi-colon comment at the very end of the video is in reference to Twitter Bootstrap, and his public drubbing of Twitter's @fat, regarding missing semi-colons causing JSMin errors. Fat said, "nope - that's a bug in jsmin. Probably should let @douglascrockford know about it though. thanks!". Douglas said in response, "That is insanely stupid code. I am not going to dumb down JSMin for this case." The whole issue is here. Some great comments: https://github.com/twitter/bootstrap/issues/3057 https://github.com/twitter/bootstrap/issues/3057
- lucisferre 14y agoNo, I knew about that. I'm talking about the subject of the headline, Isaac is well known for hatred of semicolons, and outside of that I can't see any reason to questions Joyents stewardship of th project.
- junto 14y agoI would recommend that people watch the entire video. It is a very refreshing look at practical solutions for solving Yahoo's lost decade and getting them back on track. He notably said that Yahoo should bring Jerry Yang back as "Chief Yahoo", in a kind of MacGyver role, fixing problems across the company. Edit: nice Alienware laptop! Beast.
