My friend is a chemical engineer and I found it really annoying when people revere his suggestions on anything mechanical like fixing a sink. Like an engineering title makes you an expert on anything mechanical.
That’s when I switched from programmer to software engineer actually.

- burnished 2y agoWhen I was studying electrical engineering people would ask me if I was going to be an electrician, I told them 'no, the difference is electricians are useful'
- lagrange77 2y agoSame here. My car mechanic seems to think i'm an imposter or at least an idiot, when i don't immediately understand his car gibberish.
