- ddeck 2y agoNASA released a very impressive 30-minute video of similar solar activity a few years based on images from their Solar Dynamics Observatory: NASA | Thermonuclear Art – The Sun In Ultra-HD (4K) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tmbeLTHC_0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tmbeLTHC_0
- resolutebat 2y agoThis looks a video explanation of a single still image. Am I missing something?
- pixelesque 2y agoYes, it's a video: you can see disturbances on the surface moving / churning...

- VelesDude 2y ago* rolls up newspaper * * bops on nose * No! Bad dad joke! Don't do that!
- voidUpdate 2y agoIt would be far too dark if you did that! You go there on a cloudy day, of course
- orthoxerox 2y agoJoking like it's 1969.
- jahnu 2y agoIs this in real time? If so then the speed of some of those structures is also incredible.
- maaaaattttt 2y agoExactly. What I'm always missing in videos of the sun is a time scale and a size scale. I'd love to have an earth time clock and a earth to scale in a corner of the image for reference.
- thom 2y agoIs there some slightly more raw footage available somewhere? This video is obscured by various bits of educational content.

- moosemess 2y agoOnce-intelligent narration of scientific videos has now been replaced with cinematic music and suspenseful drone sounds. I wish science would stop trying to compete with art and just deliver useful and already interesting information. Remember Bill Nye? Now all we get are attempts to clone Interstellar.
- ranger_danger 2y ago> useful > Bill Nye what
- HeatrayEnjoyer 2y agoWhat are you trying to say?
- moosemess 2y agoI think it's trying to communicate.
- itishappy 2y agoBill Nye is still around and so are his contemporaries. If you want intelligent narration about stuff like this, here's some recommendations: Space focused: https://www.youtube.com/@NASAGoddard https://www.youtube.com/@NASAGoddard https://www.youtube.com/@EuropeanSpaceAgency https://www.youtube.com/@EuropeanSpaceAgency https://www.youtube.com/@pbsspacetime https://www.youtube.com/@pbsspacetime https://www.youtube.com/@DrBecky https://www.youtube.com/@DrBecky https://www.youtube.com/@whatdamath https://www.youtube.com/@whatdamath General science (still plenty of space): https://www.youtube.com/@SabineHossenfelder https://www.youtube.com/@SabineHossenfelder https://www.youtube.com/@fermilab https://www.youtube.com/@fermilab https://www.youtube.com/@ScienceAsylum https://www.youtube.com/@ScienceAsylum
- jurassicfoxy 2y agoCan anyone else simply not even comprehend the existence of trillions of giant floating balls of gas that are just in a constant state of explosion, floating through space!? Like... how???
