Right now I have to reboot and go into the BIOS to do that, being able to set it without rebooting will be convenient!
- bryanlarsen 2y agoIs that not common on other brands? On my ASUS I can right click on the battery icon in KDE, and adjust that in "Advanced Power Settings".
- tooltower 2y agoI'm not OP, but I had no idea KDE had that built in. I'll have to check for something analogous in my xfce config when I'm back at my laptop. Thanks!
- BenjiWiebe 2y agoIt takes hardware support.
- p_l 2y agoIt used to be exclusive to thinkpads, then started showing up across more business-oriented laptops, I think some Macbooks got support, then it filtered down to various consumer models.
- preisschild 2y agoOn the other hand, since they make replacing everything so easy, you can just ignore battery health best practices and replace the battery every 1-2 years
- woleium 2y agoDoes it need a battery? i know macs need a battery present to work at all, in theory because tdp is higher than the charger can provide, but is that the case with the framework as well? Could you just remove the battery when working at your desk (like i do for weeks, before having to travel)?
- vsgherzi 2y agoIt can work without
- anotherhue 2y agoI do it online echo 80 | doas tee /sys/class/power_supply/BAT1/charge_control_end_threshold Edit: apparently I already installed framework-laptop-kmod so this comes from there https://github.com/DHowett/framework-laptop-kmod https://github.com/DHowett/framework-laptop-kmod
