They've since changed their tune and ceased uploading whole episodes, only excerpts go onto YouTube now with links to their own "Mediathek".
From my understanding they're doing so because the content is paid for by public money, and YouTube is a foreign for-profit company. So they were essentially spending the citizens money to provide content to a private entity that's headquartered abroad
- odiroot 3y agoFortunately Tagesschau still uploads to YT. Which is great because their website (and the video player) are a bit clunky.

- Ringz 3y agoJust like they whined about one of the best public funded and free weather apps out there and sued them: DWD https://www.dwd.de/DE/presse/pressemitteilungen/DE/2020/20200312_bgh_urteil_news.html https://www.dwd.de/DE/presse/pressemitteilungen/DE/2020/2020...
- shmeeed 2y agoThe day of that news was the day I uninstalled all private weather apps I had been using and bought DWD. I figured if they want to play that game, they gotta live with the consequences. I've since been encouraging everyone I know to do the same, and I never forget to tell this backstory. Besides, DWD is hands down the single best weather app in the DACH region anyway.
- subpixel 3y agoARD is experimenting with trying to get users to jump out of YT for content, but they still post a lot of material there.
- hobofan 2y agoThere is still the "Funk" part of programming that targets people under 30. Almost all the content produced under that umbrella is available on YouTube (or Facebook, Instagram, TikTok), based on the realism that that's what's needed to reach the youth.
- addandsubtract 2y agoThat, too, has been pulled back, though. Funk episodes are now released in the Mediathek first and only a few weeks(?) later on Youtube.
