- SunlitCat 2y agoWell, the EU even went a step further! [0] Quote from there: >Also, the occupants of the car have no control over the remote activation of the microphone, making a car susceptible to eavesdropping. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECall https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECall
- axelthegerman 2y agoThat's fair though that seems to be an implementation detail and not the intended use. E.g. if the system would actually only activate and transmit when let's say the airbag inflated that'd seem like a good thing in general. Would there still be ways to exploit it, maybe but it's not the same as what was described in the article
- daghamm 2y agoAsian car makers are a bit special. Both privacy and cybesercurity is at 1995 levels. KIA, Toyota, Honda and Hyundai are worst in class in every aspect. With that said, I'm pretty sure this thing is not allowed in EU or at the very least will be too expensive to operate in Europe.
- SunlitCat 2y agoGood news! Cars with telemetry are already mandatory in the EU since 2018! :) [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECall https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ECall
