Google's medical AI destroys GPT's benchmark and outperforms doctors
- gary_0 2y agoAnyone remember IBM Watson Health? IBM started it almost 10 years ago(!) after they did the whole "AI plays Jeopardy" thing. There was much fanfare in the tech press. Then in 2018 IBM laid off about half of the Watson team. Eventually Watson Health was sold off at a loss to a VC firm, which then did another round of layoffs last year. I wonder if Med-Gemini will have any more luck. It's a generation ahead of Watson, of course, but on the other hand Google is starting to look a lot like IBM these days (and its track record for keeping side projects going is already a meme).
