its not a genocide by any definition.
- kevingadd 2y agoYou can think what you want but to act like this is undisputed is a bit silly. https://www.hrw.org/news/2024/02/26/israel-not-complying-world-court-order-genocide-case https://www.hrw.org/news/2024/02/26/israel-not-complying-wor...

- JumpCrisscross 2y ago> its a deliberate attempt to dehumanize jews. there is no systematic erasure of a culture or ethnicity Israel is being investigated by the ICJ. Calling its war genocide is premature. But rejecting the claim outright is unfounded as well.
- jackjeff 2y agoThe ICJ is currently investigating a genocide case against Israel. So I guess we’ll find out… eventually. https://www.chathamhouse.org/2024/01/south-africas-genocide-case-against-israel-international-court-justice-explained https://www.chathamhouse.org/2024/01/south-africas-genocide-...
- amitport 2y ago"The ICJ had to decide [...] Whether the underlying case was at least plausible" This is false and shows a misunderstanding. Choose better information sources. ICJ only decided whether it is plausible to allow South Africa to continue with this process on behalf of Gaza. It has nothing to do with the court's opinion on the plausibility of the -underlying- case but on the questioned legality of the process itself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq9MB9t7WlI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq9MB9t7WlI
- VagabundoP 2y ago“It will be several years before the court in The Hague will hand down its verdict, but we must not look at the catastrophic situation purely through legal lenses,” said Goldberg. “What is happening in Gaza is genocide because the level and pace of indiscriminate killing, destruction, mass expulsions, displacement, famine, executions, the wiping out of cultural and religious institutions, the crushing of elites (including the killing of journalists), and the sweeping dehumanization of the Palestinians — create an overall picture of genocide, of a deliberate conscious crushing of Palestinian existence in Gaza.”[1] [1] https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20240430-yes-it-is-genocide-in-gaza-says-israeli-professor-of-holocaust-studies/ https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20240430-yes-it-is-genocid...

- locallost 2y agoI would not agree. "In 1948, the United Nations Genocide Convention defined genocide as any of five "acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group". These five acts were: killing members of the group, causing them serious bodily or mental harm, imposing living conditions intended to destroy the group, preventing births, and forcibly transferring children out of the group. Victims are targeted because of their real or perceived membership of a group, not randomly."
- raxxorraxor 2y agoI would not agree this constitutes genocide. Israel withdrew from Gaza not too long ago. If the attacks hadn't happened, there would be a "ceasefire" today. It is completely contrary to what Israel tries to do, the accusation is ridiculous and lacking any form of sincere analysis and judgement.

- raxxorraxor 2y agoIsrael has sat pretty quietly for 75 years next to people regularly firing rockets at them and attacking their people. People that don't accept its existence and have a charter that can describe pretty closely what a proper definition of genocide can look like. Something that is far away from the conduct of Israel, even if it isn't perfect.
- gaoryrt 2y agoWhy did they start firing rockets 75 years ago? Did they just fire it to Israel for no reason?

- guappa 2y agoI don't recall the genocide definitions including the wording "it's ok if they're brown"
