I'm guessing that happened almost exactly a year ago, which is when I was astonished to find that they'd junked up their perfectly good Weather app with ads. Microsoft does plenty of cool things these days, but it's bizarre how they're pushing these little Windows monetization efforts like it's some garbage F2P mobile game.
