Really NPR?
More men die at work. More men get murdered. More men die in car crashes.
The reasons for this are obvious, but we, as a society, are adverse to having the conversation.
- acdha 3y agoYou might want to read past the headline. They cover that.
- corinroyal 3y agoRight? And men commit the overwhelming majority of violent crime. The reasons for this are obvious, but some people are averse to having the conversation.
- zer00eyz 3y agoThis is part of the conversation. The old adage "women and children first" is there for a reason. If you want to know why go read the reports of the evacuation of the costa concordia. Read about who panicked and who had to stop them. Go read the reports on multi aircraft incidents. A feature of many of them are bad practices that have been normalized and compounded till there is an incident. The Texas air show crash is a great example of this sort of behavior particular to a local air port. GO read about the last dual in the US. Look at pictures of Germans' circa WWI (scars)... Our history is brutal, bloody and driven by conflict. The violent crime is nearing all time lows and rather than be shocked that we have managed to get it that far down, we lament why it isnt lower.
