The article has an excellent point about the seriousness of the research. 98% of what I read out of the "UFO Community" is bogus misidentifications and third hand stories.
But I would share a strong belief, made from decades now of watching reports that the "giggle factor" is intentional. It was a created effect of disinformation, and in the scientific community going back to Cordons intentional squashing of scientific inquiry.
At the time of that report, a survey found 60 some percent of scientists answered that investigation into UFOs was relevant, but only a few percent would be willing to say so publicly.
Some amount of that 98% of bullshit is created by the United States government to intentionally obscure any ability to determine the truth, and has been continuous since the 1950s when we know this strategy was actively adopted during the Truman administration.
And while I'm all for NASA focusing on other planets, I continue to wonder what truth is so valuable to spend so much energy obfuscating here on earth?
