Selling bookings on trips to space, when the vehicle isn’t built and tests have all failed.
Before you write “Starship” note that only a hollow shell got launched so far and failed to successfully re-enter. No life support, no emergency system, not fit or approved for manned space travel. It’s a fantasy at this point, not ready for bookings next year. That’s called a grift.
Dragon on Falcon, maybe, but no one is going to Mars anytime soon.

There's absolutely nothing new here apart from offering the same thing to new customers. I want you to think about TSMC and Apple. Apple has exclusive access to new nodes. While they are producing for Apple they advertise to other customers and those start designing with the relevant design rules they wait for Apple to ramp down. Jared Isaacman, NASA and Miyazaki are Apple here. SpaceX is TSMC. People rich enough to go fly after them are the people being advertised to You can pay money ahead of time and get to go first, taking the risk of possible failure but being a pioneer. Or you can wait and see it work first then sign up. See T-Mobile vs African Telco's wrt Starlink Direct to Cell I don't know what you define as grift, but you can't stretch it to mean anything going on here
