I do not know. My hunch is because it's easy.
All I know is: Twitter/X is facing a crisis of spammy accounts and their mitigation strategy has been to require new accounts to submit payment info for the X subscription service.
- Kwpolska 2y agoGoogle Play also has a spam prevention fee. It’s a one-time fee of $25. After one year of no bans, how likely are you to be a spam account?
