Show HN: I made a macOS extension to convert HEIC to JPG straight from Finder
Hello HN,
Beside software engineering I do product design and I often deal with large image files. Many times the files are HEIC which is cumbersome as many sites don’t accept it as upload.
I created a small macOS extension that adds a Quick Action to the Finder right click menu so that I can compress & convert any number of images at once.
e.g. I import 250MB of HEIC files and I get 67MB JPG files upon a click.
Let me know if you find this useful!

- navjack27 2y agoI mean can't you just open up preview and then export?
- vojtabohm 2y agoYou can :). But you cannot do it in bulk & compress at the same time. Waiting for the preview to open up, clicking in the menu, opening the dialog, choosing from a dropdown and confirming the dialog. If you do this 10 times it's going to get tedious. With this you can do it in the right click menu in 1 click.

- vojtabohm 2y agoThis is true, you can set the format on your phone, but if you receive images from other people or clients, you cannot modify their phone's settings. While I agree I could communicate it better, this utility not only converts but also compresses the image so you get 2 core functionalities in a click.
