Had Xi continued the One China, Two Systems policy of Deng and not overtly suppressed Hong Kong there would have been a good chance of a peaceful reunification with Taiwan. After the CCP’s crackdown of Hong Kong and their treatment of Uyghurs I don’t think Taiwan will ever willingly unify with China. Xi has been antagonistic toward the Philippines, India, Taiwan, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, and others. Doesn’t seem like a long term sustainable policy.
