House passes GOP antisemitism bill amid college unrest
- racional 2y agoTo help understand this particularly insidious piece of legislation, here's text of the bill itself: https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/6090/text https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/6090... And of the IHRA Working Definition which it effectively enshrines as law: https://holocaustremembrance.com/resources/working-definition-antisemitism https://holocaustremembrance.com/resources/working-definitio... Fortunately many of the bullet points are clearly in violation the First Amendment (according to most interpretations), and quite likely the Vagueness Doctrine as well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vagueness_doctrine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vagueness_doctrine So let's hope the judicial challenges against it are swift and decisive.
- cempaka 2y agoIn particular this criminalizes calling the state of Israel a "racist state" in case there are any doubts about what a sham this is.
- racional 2y agoImagine filing a Title VI complaint against someone because they "required of Belgium or Canada a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation."

- hasselhoftd 2y agoThank you, US Gov, for painting the lines so clearly. You're on that side, where you will stay. Don't worry, we will come to you.
