Apple working to fix alarming iPhone issue
- gnabgib 2y agoTo avoid the clickbait title perhaps: Apple working to fix iPhone silent alarm issue
- k310 2y agoNo, don't! I just got a new iphone and I have spent hours turning off notifications, or replying "no" to nags to turn them on. I tried to kill mindless notifications on my mac, and it's just impossible short of hacking the operating system. I put a postit note on the top right corner of the display. Nobody seems to venture a solution, but it could be the "attention aware" [1] feature of the TrueDepth camera on newer models (that have face-sensing). When active, these enable an iPhone to check whether a person is paying attention to their device and take action automatically, such as lowering the volume sound of alerts, including alarms, if they are not. My "new" phone is the last one sold with touch-id. [1] https://support.apple.com/en-gb/102216 https://support.apple.com/en-gb/102216
