I have a similar relationship to MiniDisc. I will never sell my collection and I still use it now and again when the urge strikes me. I remember in the mid-1990s a friends brother was a big film buff, he showed us RoboCop on LaserDisc - the original directors cut. I remember being very shocked at the scene of Clarence Boddicker and his cronies shooting up Officer Murphy. But on the upside, I do remember being impressed with the sharp picture and Dolby Surround mix compared to VHS tapes.
