Viral TikTok video says nice people don't get promoted. Experts disagree.
- jqpabc123 2y agoBoth estimates suggest that psychopaths are far more prevalent in corporate management than in the general population — about 3.5 to 12 times more. And they may be even more common in the top office, with one analysis finding that one in five CEOs could be a corporate psychopath. https://bigthink.com/leadership/corporate-psychopath-ceo/ https://bigthink.com/leadership/corporate-psychopath-ceo/

- CRConrad 2y agoBefore reading TFA: Some folk wisdom says "only arseholes get promoted"; others say "only boot-lickers get promoted". Both are right and wrong: It's not "only" in either case, it's "only people who are arseholes or boot-lickers get promoted (and if someone is both, they've hit the jackpot)". CNBC usually has a rather corporate perspective, so I'd guess their "experts" are precisely the kind to mistake boot-licking for "being nice". OK, now off to check TFA to see if I'm right...
