Russians have been jamming GPS in the region for some time.
Ukraine has attacked Russian oil and gas terminals in the Gulf of Finland, so it's not just attempt to piss off NATO.
They are also jamming in their own cities.
Israel does the same in the Middle East for the same reason (Cyprus, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Syria). They also spoof the signals sometimes.
- villuv 3y agoThey have been jamming for a long time, well before Ukraine demonstrated any capabilities outside its borders. It is just particularly heavy in last couple of weeks.
- nabla9 3y agoThey have known that the attacks are coming. 40% of Russian oil and gas goes trough Baltic sea and all other routes are in full capacity. Those terminals are Russian are enabling the war and very valuable target for Ukraine.
- immibis 3y agoI would expect NATO to protect them as well. NATO needs that oil and gas.
