AI can give suggestions, but it can't actually deploy working software into the real world. For the foreseeable future there is always going to be a human who says "yes, lets spin up that elasticsearch cluster that costs 50k a month".
- hackerlight 2y agoI think this is the wrong way to look at it. Forget replacement, if AI just makes developers more productive, companies don't need to hire as many people to do the same work. Maybe the pool of work for developers will increase proportionally to the productivity increase, so there's no layoffs, but there's no guarantee of that.
