I was hoping this would be about Oregon’s “humongous fungus”, which would seem to be larger than this in every metric (3.5 square miles vs 1.5, 7,500+ tons vs ~6,000). Unfortunately it makes for a far less impressive tourist attraction than it sounds – especially when you drive 8 hours to get there just for it to be covered in a foot of snow!
