Ask HN: How do you manage articles from different sources on your phone?
I read technical articles from Medium, Linkedin, Hacker News, etc. on my phone. If I came across something I might want to read later, I used to manually copy and paste the link into a Notion page.
But this process seems tedious. Does anyone else have the same issue or is it just me?
- billybuckwheat 2y agoIf I find anything online that I want to read later (whether on my phone or not), I save it to Omnivore. That said, I often don't read on my phone opting to read on my tablet instead.
- al_borland 2y agoI used Safari’s reading list. In the past I’ve used Instapaper. If you’re a Firefox user, it comes with Pocket. There are dozens of services to solve this problem.
- bot_ime 2y agoThanks. Tried both Instapaper and Pocket just now. I am more of a minimalist, so I like Inspaper better so far. Pocket uses its home page to recommend new content, which might be interesting for some people but not for me. But I like that Pocket lets me assign a label when adding a link.
- pavel_lishin 2y agoI use Pocket (getpocket.com), although I will freely admit that it mostly serves as a graveyard of links.
- bot_ime 2y agoThanks. Someone mentioned Pocket as well, so I tried it. Graveyard would be an interesting name for an app that does something similar.
- bot_ime 2y agoThree apps have been suggested so far: Omnivore, Instapaper, Pocket.
- kirso 2y agoOmnivore.app - me and my friend wrote a short review on it here: https://adopter.substack.com/p/omnivore-the-privacy-focused-reader https://adopter.substack.com/p/omnivore-the-privacy-focused-...
- bot_ime 2y agoThis is great! Thanks for sharing the article.
- eevmanu 2y agoTelegram's Saved Messages[1]. Previously, I used to send URLs to myself using WhatsApp, but searching through messages on <web.whatsapp.com> is painfully slow compared to Telegram's search capabilities. The speed difference is likely due to Telegram leveraging the benefits of a desktop-native app, though I'm not totally sure why it's so much faster. Notion supposedly has beefed up its search engine recently, but my last experience with it was about three years ago, and it was frustratingly slow. I've been hesitant to revisit and see if they've actually improved. [1]: https://telegram.org/blog/albums-saved-messages#saved-messages https://telegram.org/blog/albums-saved-messages#saved-messag...
- bot_ime 2y agoThanks for sharing. I've known Telegram as a messaging app, but I haven't had a chance to try it. I downloaded Telegram and tried Saved Messages on my phone. Personally, I prefer tools like Omnivore, which are designed for managing reading lists and bookmarks. Others have mentioned similar tools like Instapaper and Pocket, but I haven't tried them in-depth.
- noashavit 2y agoPocket. Mozilla is trying to make it a content discovery service, but at its core it is a content vault. Just send any link to pocket (on mobile or browser extension)
