How can there be so many rich tech people and none willing to be patrons for this?
- criddell 3y agoWhy make a big donation now? Chances are it will only end up in Hachette’s pocket.
- jazzyjackson 3y agothey don't need more money, they need someone else's legal advice than their current counsel
- lucb1e 3y agoI wonder, if you averaged the HN comment thread at the time and took that as legal advice (or even better, if they had announced it and then waited with publishing all those books until there were 24h worth of comments and then used that as legal advice whether to go through with it), if they'd be in a better position now
- imiric 3y agoRich tech people didn't get rich by fighting for just causes, and against the interest of other rich corporations. There's no money or prestige in backing IA.
