The innovators moved out of San Fransisco during the pandemic and scattered across the country to much lower cost of living areas. They're seeing all kinds of problems that have been ignored for too long, many are going the solo-founder route since there's little interest from VC's for anything other than AI.
Companies realized they don't have to pay a San Fransisco premium anymore for top talent, they can pay normalized market rates. I believe the complaints are mostly people in the bay that can't afford to take a normalized engineer salary. The market is bifurcated into those willing to pay for someone to work in San Fransisco, and those that won't. One is going to continue growing while the other shrinks.
