For all the devs in the US, how's your quality of life and opportunities?
I've been hearing that the companies are offshoring their teams to Europe and that the future of the US isn't looking any good. With high crime, political unrest, people are moving out. Is it a reality or people are exaggerating these things on online platforms?
- infamouscow 2y agoThe innovators moved out of San Fransisco during the pandemic and scattered across the country to much lower cost of living areas. They're seeing all kinds of problems that have been ignored for too long, many are going the solo-founder route since there's little interest from VC's for anything other than AI. Companies realized they don't have to pay a San Fransisco premium anymore for top talent, they can pay normalized market rates. I believe the complaints are mostly people in the bay that can't afford to take a normalized engineer salary. The market is bifurcated into those willing to pay for someone to work in San Fransisco, and those that won't. One is going to continue growing while the other shrinks.
- ballingfk 2y agoI see. Do you personally believe the quality of life in the US is good and will remain good in the foreseeable future ( just your opinion ) ?
- xenospn 2y agoHaven’t heard of anyone outsourcing to Europe. Especially not startups. Europe has the exact same problems, but with much stricter labor regulations, which isn’t great for early stage companies.
