Guiding users away from CD and ls
- verdverm 2y agoThe idea here is to click instead of type, but to me, the terminal is about not using the mouse in the first place. Same reason I like vim over vs code
- JohnFen 2y agoExactly this. When I'm using the terminal or other command line, my hands are nowhere near my mouse. I very much don't want to use the mouse in that situation. The converse is also true: when I'm using a GUI, I very much want to minimize the use of the keyboard. The two devices are physically mutually exclusive: I can't use them at the same time, so they represent two natural and distinct "modes" of input.
