An entirely childless essay.
It is the responsibility of any generation to stockpile books to pass on to succeeding generations, under the possibility (slight as it may seem) that future generations may be subject to some grid-down collapse scenario, or corporate efforts to take reading 'online'. This includes not just valuable reference, but a fair sampling of the parents' own 'preferred reading' and also any favorite books of their children that might also become favorites to next generation of children, such as their own childhood favorites. Which is why I guard my own daughter's favorite MANGAs she enjoyed once, even though her current lifestyle discourages too many 'possessions'. It is because someone has to do this. Our children are too vulnerable to no-Internet scenarios!
