- ceejayoz 2y ago"Darien was stopped for having a gun on him" The other details of the case - Googling how to do it on school computers, being the original source of the video, being under investigation for stealing from the school by the victim - don't exactly scream "criminal mastermind".
- hollywood_court 2y agoNo. You don't take firearms through TSA checkpoints. You check them at the baggage counter. And then pray they don't get stolen. Although I've only had firearms stolen when flying through SJU.
- gruez 2y ago> You check them at the baggage counter. And then pray they don't get stolen. I've heard of people traveling with expensive camera gear putting a starter pistol with their checked luggage, because if you declared a baggage as having a gun they can't open it without you being present. Of course this won't deter a sufficiently motivated thief, but it does prevent someone with sticky fingers swiping your stuff during a "random inspection".
- ceejayoz 2y agoBe a little careful on international travel, though. ;-) https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/us-tourist-faces-12-years-prison-bringing-ammunition-turks-caicos-rcna149108 https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/us-tourist-faces-12-yea...
- hollywood_court 2y agoI've had firearms stolen from my luggage on 3 different occasions. SJU was the common denominator each time. They were small handguns. They just took the entire case. Even damaging my luggage when I tried to attach the case to my luggage.
- aosmith 2y agoNever had mine stolen but united lost 3 of mine between SFO and TPA once. They found them days later.
- aosmith 2y agoThis is a thing, it's actually required to be locked with non-tsa approved locks. Takes about 10 minutes extra.
- trogdor 2y agoThat is incorrect. “You may use any brand or type of lock to secure your firearm case, including TSA-recognized locks.” Source: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/transporting-firearms-and-ammunition https://www.tsa.gov/travel/transporting-firearms-and-ammunit...
- Freedom2 2y ago> You may transport unloaded firearms in a locked hard-sided container as checked baggage only. Declare the firearm and/or ammunition to the airline when checking your bag at the ticket counter. From: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/transporting-firearms-and-ammunition https://www.tsa.gov/travel/transporting-firearms-and-ammunit... Could you elaborate on what you mean by bringing them through TSA?
