Your question is a nice way to frame this challenge, and I look forward to hearing about experiences others might have. You're certainly not alone in this form of day dreaming. I've not yet tried to get non-tech jobs or junior jobs in alternative areas. It will be interesting to hear if others have had success in that way. There have been lots of threads in the past about one or two folks succeeding in carpentry or similar trade work. I wonder what else? What I have given lots of consideration and some effort, is being less intense and less focused on my tech roles (where there were viable paths to "care less"). This has been unsuccessful for a variety of reasons. I find it difficult to turn down the volume in this way.
