Automakers Keep Killing Off Small Cars Despite Eventually Regretting It
- cebert 3y ago> The company reported its first quarter earnings last night, and woo boy, it’s rough. Ford said it lost $1.3 billion on the sale of 10,000 electric vehicles in the first three months of the year — a staggering figure that amounts to $130,000 lost for every EV sold. I can’t fathom manufacturing 10,000 units of anything you lose $130,000 on.
- al_borland 3y agoGood. I thought Ford getting out of the car business was foolish, and don’t like driving on roads where nearly every vehicle is a giant truck/SUV. These car companies can’t, in good faith, tell the public they are making EVs for the environment, while also only making massive trucks/SUVs that likely use 2x the materials as a smaller vehicle that would be fit for purpose for a large percentage of buyers.

- theandrewbailey 3y agoSome of us live in places where driving smaller cars is a better experience over driving something literally the size of a tank. https://www.motorbiscuit.com/american-trucks-suvs-almost-bigger-world-war-ii-tanks/ https://www.motorbiscuit.com/american-trucks-suvs-almost-big...
