- cyanydeez 3y agoI doubt this will unmask LLCs.
- jauntywundrkind 3y ago> The bare minimum includes the following data: a customer’s name, address, the means and source of payment for each customer’s account, email addresses and telephone numbers, and IP addresses used for access or administration of the account. ...for basically anything online. Including for example DNS serving (edit: oh, maybe that's DNS buying?)! That's a lot of services that I'm about to quit, if this is required. Hell no. No way am I going to be tracked by everyone This awful & I kind of hope they try anyways then fail. That it's a disaster. Definitely resuggests the need for Local First software, software that lets us pick where we want to send our data off to. Such miserable nonsense. One of those days where I wish my country weren't so insufferable & inept & greedy. As usual all it takes is Fear Uncertainty and Doubt terrormongering to blow up privacy & rights, to intrude deeper. Edit: on the upside, other countries can find a huge edge & innovate by not being legally-mandatedly shitty!
- chrismcb 3y agoKYC in the financial realm is awful, and possibly unconstitutional (I don't know if it has even been challenged) and really it works be fine away with But to extend that to customers of any online service is unconscionable.
- 31337Logic 3y agoNo problem! Come join us in the Self-Hosted pool! The water's amazing over here!!
- noman-land 3y agoHow can you anonymously self host?
- 31337Logic 3y agoWhat do you mean? My comment had more to do with the very popular use-case where folks goto cloud for things like photo storage, calendaring, email, work collaboration, data storage, etc. And that's fair enough. But every single one of those instances can be hosted yourself with min/mid-amounts of effort. That's a great way to bring control back to the user. It's not going to be a 100% anonymous solution, though, if that's what you're after.
