Was Jack Welch the Greatest CEO of His Day–Or the Worst?
- WheelsAtLarge 3y agoNot the best, he optimized the company to the point that it could no longer improve. That was good. However, he used the company's assets to back financial businesses that he and the company had no experience in. He goosed the company's profit during the good times but almost bankrupted it during the bad times. Basically, he leveraged the company for short-term gains while endangering the company long-term. That's not the mark of a great leader.
