Apple's Lead Marketer for New Vision Pro Headset Retires

- camillomiller 2y ago> Frank Casanova, who worked at Apple for 36 years in various roles, including helping to lead the expansion of the iPhone to new carriers, departed last week, according to his LinkedIn page. I'll rephrase this more honestly: Apple Veteran who probably delayed retirement to oversee one last exciting new-product-category launch retires about a year after said product launch is fully deployed. These headlines are idiotic, and as a journalist I just can't stand this disingenuously "factual" reporting.
- latexr 2y agoHow is your rephrasing “more honest” when you’re guessing people’s motives without verification and getting information wrong? The Vision Pro was announced less than a year ago and went on sale less than three months ago. How is that “about a year after said product launch is fully deployed”? Do you consider a WWDC announcement to be a “fully deployed” launch?
- camillomiller 2y agoIt's more honest because it does not try to disingenuously infer that the executive retired because the product is not doing well. And yes, the launch arc is almost a year old. It starts publicly with the WWDC announcement, but Casanova has certainly worked on the launch for months prior to that. Three months after the launch, it's already well into the product's marketing lifecycle, from the internal perspective. So it's more honest because it comes from being better informed about Apple's internal corporate processes.
