I don't believe music was better in my day but I do think the older you get the harder it is to find things that sound truly fresh (e.g. someone like black midi would probably blow me away if I was 16 now but instead they just keep reminding me of various acts I've heard before years ago) Similarly I find myself being a lot more interested in competent but not especially ambitious late period albums by acts where their comfort with knowing what their sound is and how to play with it can be the main source of interest.
